Tips for a First Date
Guy sees girl he likes whether physically, by recommendations from friends, family or even colleagues, or via social which is the most popular way of connecting with people easily these days, thanks to advancement in technology.
Conversation has been smooth on calls and texts on social media and as expected, a date is set. While this seems to be the next big step in the friendship, a first date could be nerve-wracking. This feeling is completely natural.
A first date can be like a job interview. You want to look your best; first impression they say matters. In fact, you should treat each first date as a special occasion.
What a First Date Should Be
The purpose of a first date is not to satisfy all your cravings. It is not the time to ‘empty his pocket’ neither is it a group hangout. Some ladies are guilty of this. Hey guys, the first date is not for you to take her to your house to ‘chill’ or ‘explore’ each other- then that’s just a hookup.
The sole purpose of the first date should be to have a good time, find out more about the other person (that is why going to the movies is a terrible idea for a first date) and investigate a romantic potential- whether or not you are physically attracted to this person. Finally, the first date is to develop friendship- most relationships start from here. If you are like me, the outcome of a first date will determine if there would be a second date, a continued communication or simply allow the connection die a natural death.
What Questions Should I Ask on a First Date?
You can ask any of these questions in no particular order. Just don’t sound like you are interrogating this person. Allow the conversation to flow naturally.
*What kind of music do you like?
*What are your hobbies?
*How do you spend your weekend?
*Do you like to try? Where have you travelled recently?
*Do you like movies? What are some of the movies you really enjoyed?
*How many siblings do you have?
*What is your worst household chores?
*What is your favourite app on your phone?
*What does friendship mean to you?
*What are you best known for among your friends?
*Can you dance?
*What is the most spontaneous thing you have done?
*What nicknames have you had throughout your life?
*Is your work/business related to your course of study?
The list continues. You can talk about anything, football, politics, funny childhood memories. This is just a guide. Who knows? There may just be a second date *winks*

Most ladies can’t follow through with a convo, can’t flow naturally. Often times are the guys going all out to keep the convo flowing. Can’t contribute, often shallow and boring. It shouldn’t be this way. I am not saying all these to demean women, but this is what most guys have complained of. However there are women with excellent convo skills…
I think it’s both ways. I have once gone on a date and regretted stepping out that day.
Good one. Keep it on.👍
Thank you Pat!
Or maybe the convo was narcissistic in nature and that’s why she couldn’t follow through.
It’s important to carry your partner along. The fact that he’s the one doing all the talking doesn’t mean he’s making sense.
I agree with you
Well written. I can’t really remember the last time I’ve been on a date o. All these guys these days na ‘come to my house’. Ndi ara
Hmmm. Those ones are clowns.
There are still cool and responsible guys around.

Nice writeup dear. I really appreciate this. I also believe that there are some cool guys who understand the important of going out on a first date rather than been invited to their house.
